The Micro, Small, Medium Enterprise (MSME) Business Loan Guarantee Scheme jointly initiated by the Ministry of Commerce (MCILI) and Ministry of Finance (MoFT) to provide financial support for the extension of financial capital to businesses in rural areas and inclusive participation of communities, women and youth in the productive sector.

The scheme is intended to support loans for business development in the following areas:

  • Agricultural production or processing
  • Timber and wood industries
  • Fishing
  • Tourism
  • small scale industry or manufacturing
  • retail trading
  • professional services
  • transportation services

Eligible MSMEs are entitled to apply for assistance under the scheme which is managed by the Central Bank and can be accessed through the scheme’s participating financial institutions such as the Development Bank of Solomon Islands.

Features

Eligibility Registered Micro, Small and Medium Companies owned by Individual Solomon Islanders, companies or co-operatives owned and controlled by Solomon Islanders (provided that Solomon Island owners control at least 80% of the venture) are eligible for assistance under the scheme.
