Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy (NDS) 2016-2035 is the country’s reference point for its development aspiration over the next 20 years. It sets out a framework for development policies, priorities and programs, providing a common direction for all Solomon Islanders and stakeholders to follow. The national strategy is aligned with the United Nation’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals and recognizes that sustainable growth is the only way to guarantee a reasonable standard of living for all Solomon Islanders.
DBSI, through its Strategic Plan, supports the articulated strategies of the NDS by providing the necessary finance where needed and undertaking projects of national interest based on the Bank’s own underwriting rules and criteria as well as the Bank’s policies, legal and regulatory frameworks.
In 2018, the DBSI was re-established under the Development Bank of Solomon Islands Act 2018. DBSI now has stronger governance measures in place under the new Development Bank of Solomon Islands Act 2018, which demands more independence from political interference for its operations. We are determined to complement this with sound policies and guidelines and a strong monitoring and evaluation regime that will ensure the bank continues to operate to serve the development aspirations of all Solomon Islanders without putting the bank’s operations at risk. We now think Solomon Islands in everything we do!
